In the year of 1992, Dr. Mitali Gangopadhyay started her career as a Junior Resident at the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education & Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh, India. In 1996 she migrated to UK and subsequently completed MRCP, MRCPath. She obtained Completion of Certificate of Specialist Training (CCST). She took initial Consultant position in a busy District General Hospital (DGH) at Carlisle and regularly dealt with a wide range of cancer and inflammatory pathology.

Then she moved on to the University Teaching Hospital in Glasgow and involved with the Systemic and Cutaneous Lymphoma MDTs for West of Scotland and became specialist in Lymphoma pathology in addition to a broad range of general histopathology including a large number skin cases. Here she used to report a vast number of difficult cases of lymphoma, myeloma and leukaemia on a regular basis and worked with advance range of immuno-histochemistry and molecular techniques including FISH, ISH and PCR.

She has worked as a full time consultant in Histopathology in the UK for more than 12 years. During this time, she involved in many teaching and training programs for junior doctors in pathology and allied clinical specialties. Over the years she has had regular interaction with clinical colleagues at various clinico-pathological meetings (CPCs) including Skin CPCs. In 2016, she took voluntary early retirement from the UK National Health Service (NHS) in order to return to India and practice Pathology in her native country.

She has researched on "Cytology of Premalignant and Pre-invasive Epithelial Breast Diseases with Histopathological Correlation" and many paper publications in National & international Journals.
